I believe every client is capable of understanding and analyzing the alternatives for the handling of his or her case, evaluating recommendations, assessing risks, and making an informed decision as to what approach should be taken.  I believe the client wants to be a partner in the decision making.  There are very few clients who actually want their attorney to take over the handling of the case and just send periodic reports regarding progress.
