Real Estate Litigation

When real estate transactions don’t go well, the parties often hire attorneys to resolve the matter.  I represent clients who have sued, or have been sued, to have real estate agreements specifically enforced.  I represent investors in real estate projects where material facts have been misrepresented or the developer has misspent the investors’ money. Many disputes revolve around financing for projects, and I represent developers who have claimed that the lender has failed to “come through” with promised financing.

I represent clients in disagreements with partners and shareholders as to how to develop property.  I represent landlords who have sued to evict tenants.  I also represent tenants who are being wrongfully evicted or whose rights to extend leases or exercise options to purchase have been denied.

Real estate disputes can take a variety of forms.  Clients need to be informed of the possible methods for resolving the dispute and the probable costs.  Sometimes mediation (i.e., a settlement conference with a neutral retired judge or experienced attorney) at some stage in the process can be the key to resolving the dispute without trial.
